Eminem is the #1 artist in hip-hop signed to Interscope/Aftermath/Shady Records. He first gained commercial success with his Slim Shady Lp in 1999, since then Eminem has sold more than 33 million track downloads and 39.6 million albums in the united states alone. He is the protege of the legendary Dr.Dre, to name of few of the big artist he has worked with would be Snoop Dogg, Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, Nas, Jay-z, 50 cent, T.I, Busta Rymes, Akon, DMX, Missey Elliot, Kid Rock, Method Man, Redman, and many more.In 2002 his semi-autobiographical Movie 8 mile was a box office smash and quickly became a classic hip-hop film. He is related to by people of all ages and all races. Making him the number rapper in the game until he retires or someone comes along who can clearly do what Eminem has done and more. Jay-Z is the #2 big rapper in the game signed to his own label Roc Nation. He first arrived on the commercial scene with his debut release Reasonable Doubt in 1996. Since then Jay-z has sold 50 million albums world-wide and has won thirteen grammy awards. He is one of the most financially successful artist/entrepreneurs in America, he has a net worth of over $450 million as of 2010. He is married to R&B superstar Beyonce Knowles and they are expecting their first child in the near future. Jay-Z has worked with many legendary musicians Eminem, Notorious B.I.G, Nas, DMX, R-Kelly, Beyonce Knowles, UGK, Kanye West, Ja Rule, Timbaland, Lenny Kravitz, Faith Evans, Dr.Dre, Coldplay, and the list goes on. Shawn Cater aka. Jay-Z is known for bringing the street aspect of hip-hop to mainstream music opening the door for rapper's like Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, Rick Ross, Max B, and other artist who bring a hustler's perspective into the way they make their music.With that said Jay-z is still finding new ways to refresh his music making him the #2 Top Artist in Rap. Lil Wayne is #3 on my list, he is signed to the labels Young Money, Cash Money, Universal Motown. He arrived on the scene at a younger age than Eminem or Jay-z, Lil Wayne was only 9 years old when he joined Cash Money Records as half the Duo the B.G.'Z with rapper B.G. But is known for his contributions in the group the Hot Boyz second album Guerrilla Warfare which was released in 1999 and his solo album Tha Block Is Hot which came out that same year. His most popular release would be in 2008 he dropped the Carter 3 album, it sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. in it's first week. Lil Wayne has worked with Jay-z, Eminem, Kanye West, Drake, David Banner, T-Pain, T.I., Rick Ross, Young Jezzy, Keri Hilson, Mike Jones, Ludacris, Niki Manaj, and so many more. I would say Lil Wayne mite not have sold as many records as the other two artist above him, but his does set alot of trends and put out the most music on mixtapes for his fans. He just released his Carter 4 album and it's already sold over 1 million copies again in it's first week of release. So Lil Wayne is definately trying to make his way up the list.
